Our Agency's Mission Statement

TO PROVIDE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE offering affordable health insurance at a fair and reasonable cost that our clients will find affordable and within our client's monthly budget.

TO LISTEN to our client's health insurance needs.

TO CREATE a "marriage relationship" rather than a "dating relationship" with our clients.  Growing our partnership in providing our clients and their families and/or small businesses (2 to 99 employees) with insurance plans that will be there for them if and when the need arises.

Our Agency's Ten Rules of Service

  1. COMMIT TO QUALITY SERVICE:  Everyone in our agency needs to be devoted to creating  positive experience for our clients.  Always go above and beyond client expectations, offering high quality service at all times.
  2. KNOW OUR PRODUCTS: Convey knowledge about products and services that we offer and how the different products can best serve our client's needs.
  3. KNOW OUR CLIENTS:  Learn our client's needs, talk with and listen to client complaints so we can get to the root of a client's dissatisfaction if and when any questions or problems arise.
  4. TREAT PEOPLE WITH COURTESY AND RESPECT: Remember that every contact, whether it's by e-mail, phone or written correspondence, leaves either a good or bad impression.  Make a good impression!
  5. NEVER ARGUE WITH A CLIENT:  While the client isn't always right, remember that we aren't always right either.  Focus on what went wrong in a particular situation, concentrate on how to fix it and then fix it!
  6. DON'T LEAVE CLIENTS HANGING:  Calls and e-mails need to be handled with a sense of urgency. Clients want immediate resolution and so do we.
  7. ALWAYS PROVIDE WHAT YOU PROMISE:  Fail to do this and we lose credibility and clients.  If we say that a quote will be sent within 24 hours, get the quote out in 8 hrs. or less.
  8. ASSUME THAT CLIENTS ARE TELLING THE TRUTH: The majority of clients don't like to complain; in fact, they'll go out of their way to avoid it.  Remember too that they assume that we are telling them the truth as well... and we better be!
  9. FOCUS ON MAKING CLIENTS, NOT MAKING SALES: Remember that keeping a client's business is more important than getting new clients.  If we can't take care of our present clients, there's no need looking for new clients.
  10. MAKE IT EASY TO BUY: Buying health insurance should be as easy as possible.  Eliminate all unnecessary paperwork and forms.  Explain that when applying for the health insurance plans, that the online forms speed up the application process as well as the underwriting process.   Explain the different benefits of the insurance plans in a way that the client understands what the benefits are.

Our History Since 1977

Hello, my name is Edwin J. Tazelaar, II and I'm better known as Ed to my family, friends and clients.  I began my insurance career in Illinois when I became a Licensed Insurance Agent back in 1977 with American Family Life Assurance Company (AFLAC).   I then accepted an opportunity to join Capitol American Life Insurance Company as their State Manager here in Illinois in 1983.

In November 1998, I became aware of UniCare and began to research the company, checking with the Illinois Department of Insurance as well as Standard and Poor's Insurance Rating Analysis Reports and also with A.M. Best, an independent insurance industry analyst that bases its rating on the operating performance and financial stability of insurance companies.

Based on the information that I found, I made the decision in January 1999, to contract with UniCare and I have been contracted and in good standing with UniCare ever since.

In June of 2003, I contracted with MultiNational Underwriters, a company that offers International Health Insurance Coverage, something that many of our clients had been looking for as they traveled to other countries for either business or vacations.

In September of 2005, I also contracted with another company that also provides International Health Insurance Coverage, International Medical Group, Inc., (IMG).

In December of 2005, I contracted with Chesapeake Life Insurance Company so as to help provide our clients with additional life insurance options, both Guaranteed Level Term Plans as well as Universal Life Plans.

In January of 2007, I signed a contract with Celtic Insurance Company, so as to offer my clients and perspective clients, an even broader range of health insurance plans to choose from.

In September of 2007, I signed a contract with Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. so as to still better serve my clients and potential clients.  In Illinois, pre-paid legal service benefits are considered an insurance product, so what better way to add the benefits of such a legal plan that costs my clients less than a cup of coffee a day I ask!

In February of 2008, I signed a contract with Assurant Health so as to offer my clients and perspective clients, an even broader range of health insurance plans to choose from.

Additional information can be obtained from the A.M. Best Web Site, www.ambest.com in reference to any and all of the above insurance companies.
